Tata Coffee net up 56%

Coffee plantation company Tata Coffee has registered 55.67 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 2.73 crore for Q1 FY 2006 against Rs 1.21 crore for Q1 FY 2005. Sales dipped by 47.25 per cent to Rs 27 crore for Q1 FY 2006 against Rs 39.76 crore in Q1 FY 2005. Earnings per share for Q1 FY 2006 was at Rs 2.19 against Re 0.98 registered in Q1 FY 2005. According to company's chairman R K Krishna Kumar, the reduction in turnover was owing to lower volume of coffee sales which would be recouped in coming months.
