M H Ashraff (managing director)

M H Ashraff was appointed as the managing director of Tata Coffee Limited with effect from 1st October, 2000.

Born in 1945, Ashraff is a Bachelor of Science degree holder from Osmania University.

He started his career as an assistant manager on the tea estates owned by M/s James Finlay and Company (Private) Limited in 1968, which was subsequently acquired by Tata Tea Limited in 1983.

Ashraff has held various senior appointments in the company, both in India as well as abroad. He joined the board of Tata Tea Ltd, in June 1994 and was part of the team which was responsible for the acquisition of Tata Tetley Limited, the biggest such acquisition by an Indian Company abroad in history, at that time.

He has undergone extensive training programmes, both in India and abroad including : Programme on Business Management at SILSOE College, Cranfield University, General Management Programme at Administrative Staff College of India and several other such programmes.

He has held various posts in the plantation organisations. He was president of the Plantation Association of Tamil Nadu; president of the United Planters’ Association of Southern India and member, Tea Board and member, Coffee Board. 

He was also member of the Bengal Chamber, Bangalore Chamber and president of the Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Hameed Huq (executive director - plantations)

Hameed Huq joined Tata Tea in 1972 and has held varioussenior positions in the company. He’s also had a short stint with plantations in Sri Lanka from 1994 to 1997. He moved to Tata Coffee in 1999 as vice president, and is now the executive director heading the plantation operation.

Arunava Sengupta (executive director - instant coffee operations)

Arun Sengupta joined Tata Tea in 1984 and later moved to Asian Coffee in 1996 as CEO, handling production and marketing of Instant Coffee. On merger of Asian Coffee with Tata Coffee, he moved in as vice president, and was subsequently appointed as executive director.

M D Kumar (vice president - finance)

Deepak Kumar worked in Tata Tea from 1980, and moved to Tata Coffee in 1999. He was directly involved with the acquisition of Eight O’ Clock Coffee (EOC) in 2006 and is now on the board of directors at EOC

Christine F Jamal (vice president - corporate)

Christine F Jamal is vice president - corporate of Tata Coffee Limited. Her career spans more than three decades of value driven association with the Tata Group. Jamal has earlier served at The Indian Hotels Company Limited in various capacities, the last being vice president - business excellence.

M K C Pai (company secretary)

Pai worked as secretary with the JK Group, Britannia Industries Ltd., Shaw Wallace & Co. Ltd. and Usha Telehoist Ltd. before joining Tata Coffee in the year 2000.
