When Tata Tea Limited took over Asian Coffee Limited in 1992-93, it became the single largest integrated company in Asia and the company's Instant Coffee Division was the first 100 per cent export oriented unit for instant coffee.

The Instant Coffee Division contributes to almost 50 per cent of the company's revenue and profit and accounts to a whopping 22 per cent of all instant coffee exported from India.

The company has two units with the factory unit at Toopran, near Hyderabad, exporting to markets like Russia, Italy, France, Poland and several South East Asian countries.

The Instant Coffee Division presently caters to spray dried and agglomerated segments. To augment more segments, the Division boasts of a Freeze Drying Plant with a capacity of 2000 metric tons. It also houses two packing facilities where the products are packed in tin cans of 50grams, 100grams and 200grams for consumers and bulk packs of 25 kilograms and 45 kilograms for institutional markets. With the recent acquisition of Highhill Coffee, the Division's total production capacity is 6000 metric tons per annum. Instant Coffee Division is now focussing on being a global player by setting up production facilities abroad.
